At the Heart of Gold Country

Exciting news!

Bookery owner Nancy Dunk has created a beautiful new book about Placerville's history called At the Heart of Gold Country. 

Several writers contributed to the book including Nancy herself, Charlie Ferris, C.M. Follett, Rodi Lee, and Matthew Levanti.

These writers tell stories about various incidents, places, people and experiences of gold rush history. Like the history of the Cary House Hotel, tales of the Pony Express route through Camino and Pollock Pines, and the 1948 Centennial celebration of the Gold Rush in Coloma. 

The book also features beautiful historic photographs of Placerville and its surrounding areas, and maps carefully rendered by Brian Lux.

Come pick up the book at the Bookery and enjoy a little Placerville treasure of your own!
