Happy Anniversary Bookery!

Today, September 1, 2011, marks the Bookery's 28th anniversary of business in Placerville!

For a little glimpse back in time, here are some photos and clippings from our scrapbook. Please enjoy this little walk down memory lane...

Nancy and Celia opened the store together in 1983 at 316 Main Street (now the location of Hangtown Originals) and moved in December 1984 to 326 Main Street, the freshly renovated site of the Blue Bell Cafe.

Nancy and Celia dedicated themselves for the first few years to building a customer base and finding quality used books in a wide variety to keep return customers excited and satisfied.

It wasn't long before they were celebrating their six year anniversary, below. Each passing year and anniversary marks another celebration of good business practice and the love of books!

And of course, we wouldn't be the Bookery without our loyal animal friends!

We hope that the Bookery will be a warm, inviting and much-loved sight on Main Street for many, many years to come!

Welcome Abbey!

Rockstar alert! There's a famous new personality at the bookstore....

welcome Abbey, Nancy's new dog and the Bookery's sweet new mascot.

Abbey is a 3-year-old rescue lab from the Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue.

She is lovable and gentle, with the sweetest disposition ever. It was immediately apparent that she is the perfect bookstore dog; she is great with kids and other dogs, always charming and affectionate with everyone she meets.

Please take time to stop in and meet Abbey. She is humbly delighted to meet all our bookstore customers!

You might catch a glimpse of her cute black tongue, or her spunky tail wagging.

And of course, she's awfully fond of treats.

And most of all, Abbey loves her new "mom" - Nancy. 

We are all beyond excited to welcome Abbey to the Bookery family!

Wonders of the Ancient World

 We recently got in a wonderful collection of books about the ancient world. There are fascinating books on Rome, Egypt, the classical world, and the Celts, each brimming with scholarly information about this rich time on earth.

Right now some of these Ancient World books are displayed in our front window, and there are more on the shelves in our history section. Come take a look and expand your world!

Here at the Bookery we've recently procured an immense collection of beautiful cookbooks.

Since all our books are used (even if they're in perfect condition) they are very reasonably priced.

So if you happen to use or collect cookbooks, you're in for a treat!
